Meet the Personal Trainer: Loïc Van Lang

By Paulien van Embden | 01 Dec 2021 | Testimonials

1. Can you introduce yourself ?

My name is Loic Van Lang (@loic_vanlang), I am 31 years old and living in Brussels! 3 years ago, I decided to make from my passion my job by becoming a Personal Trainer. Before my career switch, I used to work in the marketing sector for 8 years (among others for Basic-Fit). I didn't really know what I wanted to do in my life when I was a teenager and I couldn't imagine it was possible to make money by sharing my passion with people... This is probably why it took me so long to finally take the step to follow my dream and to make people become the fittest version of themselves! I now work as a Head Coach in the recently opened Basic-Fit Jourdan where I created Upgrade Coaching (@upgrade.brussels). I develop my business together with a team of motivated and certified coaches sharing the same passion. One of my strengths is definitely my knowledge about marketing and community management. Together with my team, we are working on our brand image to show how professional we are on the social network and attract more leads. We are still looking for one Personal Trainer at the moment so feel free to contact me if you would like to join the team!

2.Why did you choose PCA for your education ?

Because it is by far the most recognized education you can find in Belgium if you want to become Personal Trainer. 90% of the best coaches I know have the NASM accreditation, it means what it means...!

3. What did the NASM accreditation bring you ?

Acknowledgement. It is a proof of conscientiousness, quality and professionalism. In Belgium but also in the rest of the world. I don't think any other accreditation provides this kind of worldwide recognition.

4. What is your specialization ?

The specialization that fits me the most is probably Small Group Specialist. It doesn't represent my main activity at the moment because Personal Training is way easier to develop but the potential of Small Group Training is huge. What I like about Small Group is the atmosphere of having people helping and motivating each other just by doing the workout together as team but also the fact that Small Group Training is more affordable, and that you can help and share your expertise to several people at the same time...

5. What is the coolest exercise you like to do with your clients and why ?

My favorite exercise is burpees... It is not a really fancy one and even if most of my clients hate me because of them, they are so effective! No material needed and pretty easy to perform (at least the first ones...), they are also an easy indicator of progress !

6. What is the most fulfilling part in coaching others ?

Probably seeing my clients feeling good about themselves and helping them to realize how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle.

7. What is your favorite quote ?

"It's not about having time, it's about making time."
